ILO Chief of Rights at Work calls upon Mr. Kailash Satyarthi

On 25th November 2019, Beate Andrees, Chief of ILO's Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work Branch called upon Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi. A discussion around ways of strengthening global interventions for elimination of child labour considering the impending deadline of 2025 for achieving SDG 8.7 ensued and Mr. Satyarthi appreciated ILO's role in eliminating child labour. The Nobel Peace Laureate emphasized on the need to be bold, innovative and proactive with an utmost sense of urgency if we wish to achieve our goal by 2025. The discussion also centred around policies and programs required to be undertaken at the global level for rallying support for 2021, which has been designated by the UN as International Year for Elimination of Child Labour.
