On 19th September 2019, The Nobel Peace Summit was hosted in Merida, Yucatan with the underlying theme of Leaving a Mark for Social and Economic Development. The Summit had Nobel Peace Laureates Leymah Gbowee, Tawakkol Karman, Jody Williams, Shirin Ebadi, Lech Walesa, Juan Manuel Santos and Mr. Kailash Satyarthi as panelists while the special guests included Governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal and David Trimble.
At the Summit, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi exhorted everyone present to raise their voices and be bold, honest and accountable in order to attain a sustainable and peaceful world. Later at the Summit Press Conference, Mr. Satyarthi raised the clarion call for working towards universalization of education, the democratization of technology and the globalization of compassion.
