On 19th June 2019 Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi addressing the High Level Panel for Social Protection convened by European Commission said that wherever children and their communities have been brought under the ambit of social protection the positive impacts have been multidimensional and far-reaching. He said that Social Protection schemes not only prevent child labour but also promote decent working conditions among the parents of the children pulling them out of poverty and putting them in schools. He further said that a robust social protection framework can be instrumental in combating inequalities and upholding principles of peace, justice and harmony in the society. He cited various success stories of Social Protection like Bolsa Familia in Brasil, MGNREGA and Mid Day Meals in India, conditional cash transfers in Bangladesh among others.
