Nobel Peace Laureate gives clarion call for attaining SDG 8.7

On 17th September, 2019 Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi spoke on Globalisation of Compassion for a Child Friendly World at the Edward Phelan Lecture held at National University of Ireland. The event had several dignitaries in attendance including Director-General of the ILO, Guy Ryder; Minister for Business, Enterprise & Innovation, Heather Humphreys; Irish Congress member Patricia King; CEO of Ibec, Danny McCoy. Mr. Satyarthi appealed to world leaders present at the event to keep their promises to children and help attain the goal of SDG 8.7 viz. to take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms. He earnestly requested the international fraternity to not fail the children once again.
