On 29th February 2020, Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi launched the Smart City initiative in Dehradun that aims to make the city Child Friendly. Speaking at the event presided by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat among others, Mr. Satyarthi emphasized on how every city can become child-friendly by creating child-friendly infrastructure, policies & institutions and a child-friendly culture. He also spoke of religious faith as that connoting religious freedom among all, which is another pre-requisite for a harmonious and child-friendly city.
