On 24th April 2020, Nobel Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi wrote an urgent Letter to the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, urging him to bring a notification wherein employers of child labourers will not be punished for the next 3 months only if they voluntarily declare to the authorities about employment of child labour at their premises and immediately release the children. He also called upon the State authorities to ensure safety, shelter, food, medical treatment to the released children during the lockdown period. He further called upon the government to take adequate measures for safe repatriation of these children once the lockdown is lifted.
